I<\/span>f someone had told us in January, that everyone would be roaming around wearing masks, pollution levels would drop to new lows and cricket would be played in a stadium with no crowds, we would\u2019ve laughed them off. But a pandemic later, here we are, with new social habits, increased health awareness and excited about being able to eat thele ka pani puri once again. However, life, as we know it, has changed and some of the good habits are worth carrying forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Changing with Covid-19<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The coronavirus pandemic has forced us to relook at some of our most basic social interactions, like shaking hands, hugging and so on. Never in history, have we been so conscious of keeping track of what surfaces our hands touch and whether we are washing them for 20 seconds many times a day. We are now more aware of maintaining distance, working out and even strengthening our \u201cimmunity\u201d, whether by drinking haldi doodh or a kadha. The new-found consciousness for health and safety can only be a good thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Handwashing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the key new habits that we have inculcated into our \u201chealth diet\u201d in recent times is handwashing. What was once considered a casual routine to be done before eating and after visiting the washroom, now has the serious weight of science behind it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dettol India\u2019s #HandWashChallenge on TikTok, where people had to perform signature steps to Dettol\u2019s \u2018handwashing song\u2019 for 20 seconds garnered around 120 billion views (before TikTok ban happened) and helped raise the awareness around the \u201cright technique\u201d to wash hands in a fun and impactful manner. We have been made to re-think even simple acts like feeding someone or giving a high-five, something that has been astutely captured in the new Dettol film. People carry hand sanitisers in their pockets and are even aware of the distinctions between the various types, brands and colours. The #GlobalHandWashingDay trended on all social media platforms on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
