We\u2019re probably the rare generation that actually embodies the proverb, \u201cChange is the only constant.\u201d Because one thing\u2019s certain we get bored and crave for something new faster than <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arre.co.in\/humour\/shashi-tharoor-ravichandran-ashwin-revenge-tipu-lagaan\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">R Ashwin<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can do a Mankad. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you are young and anxious and spoilt for choice, choosing something as trivial as a TV show on Voot to add to our watchlist is not as much a decision anymore as it is a task \u2013 neither are we bogged down to one choice nor are we forced to stick to it even when it sustains our interest. Our daily lives revolve around the easy availability of unlimited options. Sure, some might argue that these neverending options make our generation restless \u2013 gelato or ganache, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arre.co.in\/pov\/jomo-over-fomo-how-to-find-the-joy-of-missing-out\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">JOMO<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or FOMO, Ryan Gosling with a shirt or without one. But here\u2019s another way to look at it. Don\u2019t these many options help us choose better and know exactly what it is that we don\u2019t want? <\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s a way of life that influences other aspects of our lives as well: Fewer and fewer millennials are inclined to choose stability. Unlike our parents<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we don\u2019t stick to the same job from 22 to 62. And if the job\u2019s too draining, we give it up. Just like that. We\u2019ll instead, take a sabbatical to find a calling that is a two-way satisfaction street. <\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Likewise, our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arre.co.in\/love-and-sex\/new-year-resolutions-2019-dating\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dating<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> lives thrive on new experiences and new people, on being temporary. A long-term relationship then becomes our greatest nemesis. Being in love makes us fight the nagging feeling of missing out on \u201cnewness\u201d. Naturally, we gravitate toward choosing the unfiltered joy of skimming through the highlights than watching an entire match. <\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What does this aversion to tread the boringly mundane say about us millennials? That, we\u2019re always on the lookout for the next best thing. That unpredictability doesn\u2019t always have to be a bad thing. (I wish I could say the same thing each time the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arre.co.in\/humour\/five-reasons-pm-narendra-modi\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PM<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> lets us know he has to make an announcement.) <\/span>\n<blockquote class=\"quote--center\">Don\u2019t these many options help us choose better and know exactly what it is that we don\u2019t want?<\/blockquote>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Being spoilt for choices, whether it is when we are zeroing in on our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arre.co.in\/pov\/indian-parents-career-paths-media-industry\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">professions<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, partners, or movies, can also be liberating. There\u2019s a high that comes from chasing \u201cnewness\u201d; newer experiences are as addictive as watching <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arre.co.in\/pop-culture\/tiktok-musically-india-social-media-content-video-app\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TikTok<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> videos on loop. And they override the staid predictability of sticking with one experience. <\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a world that is designed to keep reinventing itself by the minute, choosing not to experiment is a travesty that\u2019d totally get a \u201cminus\u201d from <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">K3G\u2019s<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Poo. It\u2019s actually acting on an unfair assumption that we\u2019ll end up craving the same thing every time. Isn\u2019t life all about using the myriad possibilities in front of us to its best advantage? <\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take the shows available on Voot for instance \u2013 they don\u2019t just surprise in variety, but also in quality. For days when you\u2019re feeling catty, there\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Feet Up With the Stars<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, where Anahita Shroff Adajania, surveyor of all the extraordinary clothes on magazine covers, gets <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arre.co.in\/pov\/bollywoods-a-sellout-did-we-really-need-cobrapost-to-tell-us-that\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bollywood celebrities<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to reveal their goofiest side. And on other days, when you\u2019re in need for romance and drama, you can reach for <i>Fuh Se Fantasy<\/i>. After all, who doesn\u2019t want to watch a romance show that tries to break social stigma about fantasies? <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Then imagine the ease of switching from these shows to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Viewpoint<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a news bulletin that fills you in on the latest developments this election season.<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Browsing through these choices, besides the ones our lives have in offer, we can also do what was once unimaginable: find out more about ourselves. Back in the day, our parents didn\u2019t have this luxury. They spent their whole lives working hard without getting the chance to sit back and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arre.co.in\/pop-culture\/tidying-up-with-marie-kondo-mess\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Marie Kondo<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> their lives by wondering what sparked joy for them.
