T<\/span>he third season of Arr\u00e9\u2019s award-winning science-fiction web series, <\/p>A.I.SHA<\/span><\/i><\/a>, is finally set to release on March 4. The series that debuted in 2016, and racked up awards at the LA Web Festival and the South Florida WebFest, revolves around software developer Sam, who creates an Artificial Intelligence Simulated Humanoid Assistant \u2014 also known as A.I.SHA. <\/span>\n\nSo it\u2019s fitting that the action-packed Season 3 <\/span>trailer<\/span><\/a> launched yesterday evening at the annual Cloud Security Summit, hosted by global cybersecurity company, Palo Alto Networks, who are also the presenting sponsor and cybersecurity advisor to the series. Teasing some big reveals to come, the trailer promises an escalation of the show\u2019s conflicts around cybercrime and the battle between man and machine.<\/span>\n\n\"aisha_season_3_trailer\"\n\n

In previous seasons, Sam\u2019s greedy boss, Sid (Raghu Ram, who has also produced the show for Arr\u00e9) tries to wrest control of A.I.SHA because she\u2019s a goldmine for his tech company. Meanwhile, a shadowy hackers\u2019 collective called Maya is also scheming to get their hands on A.I.SHA \u2014 who, in a Frankenstein\u2019s Monster scenario, <\/span>wants to be with<\/span><\/a> Sam by any means necessary. <\/span>\n\nIt\u2019s the perfect premise for a gripping <\/span>thriller<\/span><\/a>, and the first two seasons built up the drama around tech-heavy twists and turns, relying on the tensions that arise when the digital and real worlds collide. Season 3 features the addition of longtime Arr\u00e9 collaborator Aahana Kumra as a police officer trying to bring Maya to justice, while a host of old characters return, including Sam, played by Ruslaan Mumtaz. Auritra Ghosh, who in Season 1 played Kriti, Sam\u2019s love interest who was killed and who inspired him to create A.I.SHA, also makes a super-creepy reappearance.<\/span>\n\n\"aisha_season_3_cast\"\n

We started from scratch,\u201d he told us at the launch. He knows that <\/span>A.I.SHA<\/span><\/i> comes with high expectations, and not just because of the international <\/span>awards<\/span><\/a> the series has picked up. \u201cIt\u2019s the icing on the cake, but it\u2019s the cake we\u2019re into. For me, a show needs to work for the platform and the audience.\u201d <\/span>\n\nFor new cast member Aahana Kumra, this was one of the major attractions of the series. \u201cI was trying to figure out what kind of audience watches <\/span>A.I.SHA<\/span><\/i>. It\u2019s not a funny show like <\/span>Official Chukyagiri<\/span><\/i><\/a>,\u201d she said, referring to her role on another Arr\u00e9 web series. She\u2019s never played a cop before, despite her mother being a decorated police officer. \u201cMy mom is very critical of cops on-screen\u2026 I\u2019ve seen women cops and how brutal they can be.\u201d And the show\u2019s focus on realism, what Raghu calls \u201ca believable suspension of disbelief,\u201d goes beyond her character, she says. At last year\u2019s World Conference for Information Technology in Hyderabad, Aahana saw the AI robot Sophia. \u201cSaudi Arabia has given her citizenship\u2026 We are living in this world. I think what the show is trying to say is, be careful.\u201d<\/span>\n\n\"\"\n

It\u2019s an exploration of the darker side of people and their megalomania, he says. <\/span>Artificial intelligence<\/span><\/a>, androids \u2014 these cutting-edge tech developments come with a side of ethical arguments over humanity\u2019s God complex, and <\/span>A.I.SHA<\/span><\/i> grapples with this through its characters. <\/span>\n\nThis clash of personalities \u2014 the types who would be interested in using a self-learning AI for their own agenda \u2014 is part of what makes the show such a <\/span>wild ride<\/span><\/a>, as much for the actors as the audience. Rashi Mal, who plays Maya member Abby, says that even she was startled to read the season end. \u201cBut in a series like this, it\u2019s imperative that that happens.\u201d According to Auritra, the fun will begin from the very first episode, where her new role will be revealed. \u201cThey\u2019re poles apart,\u201d she says of her Season 3 outing. \u201cThe way I prepared is completely different.\u201d<\/span>\n

It\u2019s good to take feedback from audiences, but wrong to seek approval from everyone.\u201d For a guy who\u2019s obsessed with the high-tech, Raghu still thinks of himself as an old-school creator, not used to seeing viewers\u2019 reactions in real time. Just as he doesn\u2019t place a lot of importance on awards, Raghu also tries to filter out the barrage of critics and <\/span>trolls<\/span><\/a>. \u201cEveryone has an opinion, and it\u2019s a dangerous thing,\u201d he muses.
